Finance Director - Genevieve John

Hi, my name is Genevieve John. I am currently the Finance/Human Resources Director for the Pyramid Lake Jr./Sr. High School and have worked at the high school since December 2008. When I started at the High School, the Tribal Administration provided oversight and management for the PLHS. In 2010, the Tribal Council approved the School Board to assume full-management of the High School. We are currently having our 7th annual audit done and will have the final 2016-2017 report before the end of the year. Our fiscal year runs from July through June of each year.

Before becoming an employee at PLHS, I worked in various positions for Tribal organizations and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. These positions required knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting to funding agencies and employer, supervision of staff, management of contract & grants, customer service and the ability to implement program goals and objectives following various governmental and other regulatory requirements. Although it took many years, I received an Associate of Applied Science in Business/Accounting from TMCC.

I have five children that are all grown with a total of 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. My husband works for the Pyramid Lake Fisheries as their Executive Director. We reside in Wadsworth and are Tribal members. If you have any questions regarding the administration of the High School’s finance or human resource offices, you may contact either me or Gwen Sanchez, Accounting/Payroll Specialist who has been here since June 2010.

Aloha Kakou (Howzit everyone),

I have had the privilege of working with Pyramid Lake Jr. /Sr. High School students and parents here for the past eight years. This year, I will be working with the Middle School students start thinking about careers and the importance of preparing for high school.

High School students will track their academic path to graduation and research careers, colleges and job preparation. Juniors and Seniors will be encouraged to attend college/career fairs, take the ASVAB aptitude test and visit local colleges.

Each student has a mentor/advisor who will check in with the students daily and will be assisting your student in academic and social success. Please feel free to contact your student mentor/advisor as well as myself for assistance with your child.

I look forward to meeting with students and parents this year as we strive for success in learning.
