Principal Jake Chapin
Hello Lakers! Welcome to our website and school. I am headed into my fourth year as Principal and I am proud to work for you, our staff and students, in continuing the school's efforts in providing a high quality education focused on culture, college, and career. We are an ever improving school, we have returned several great staff members and have some awesome new staff joining us, so be sure to read their biographies to find out more about them. I am excited for another great year and expect great things from our staff and students in 2019-2020!
A little about myself: This is my 20th year in education, my 15th year in school administration, and my 9th year at our fine school. I have a masters degree plus over 70 advanced credits in school administration. My wife, Liz Chapin teaches at Natchez Elementary. We have 6 children, ranging from 5th grade to College, so most of my free time outside of our school is dedicated to following them on their adventures. Whenever possible we like to get out and enjoy the beautiful waters of Pyramid Lake and the rest of the Nevada outdoors. email@example.com 775-574-1016 ext 1003
Assistant Principal - Tawni novotny
As Assistant Principal at PLHS, I want to say how happy I am to serve the students at our school. We have so many great things happening this year to celebrate positive choices made by our students. We offer daily drawings, weekly challenges, and monthly incentives all with positive Laker choices in mind. We believe that families play a crucial role in education and support for student success and I look forward to working with students and their families.
A little about me – I grew up in rural Nevada and love being a part of a small community. I graduated from Great Basin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with Social Sciences and Art majors in 2008 and graduated with my Masters degree in School Administration and Supervision in 2011. I have taught art and social studies at various age levels from toddlers to college and really love helping students reach their potential. This is my 4th year of school administration.
I have lived in Reno with my husband, Manuel, for 4 years with my two dogs. I have 3 nieces and 4 nephews and 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I enjoy anything art, being outdoors, spending time with my family, and have a passion for education and consider myself a lifelong learner. I hope to continue my education to better myself and the school in the areas of school leadership and Special Education in the near future. firstname.lastname@example.org 775-574-1016 ext 1038

Finance Director - Genevieve John
Hi, my name is Genevieve John. I am currently the Finance/Human Resources Director for the Pyramid Lake Jr./Sr. High School and have worked at the high school since December 2008. When I started at the High School, the Tribal Administration provided oversight and management for the PLHS. In 2010, the Tribal Council approved the School Board to assume full-management of the High School. We are currently having our 7th annual audit done and will have the final 2016-2017 report before the end of the year. Our fiscal year runs from July through June of each year.
Before becoming an employee at PLHS, I worked in various positions for Tribal organizations and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. These positions required knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting to funding agencies and employer, supervision of staff, management of contract & grants, customer service and the ability to implement program goals and objectives following various governmental and other regulatory requirements. Although it took many years, I received an Associate of Applied Science in Business/Accounting from TMCC.
I have five children that are all grown with a total of 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. My husband works for the Pyramid Lake Fisheries as their Executive Director. We reside in Wadsworth and are Tribal members. If you have any questions regarding the administration of the High School’s finance or human resource offices, you may contact either me or Gwen Sanchez, Accounting/Payroll Specialist who has been here since June 2010.
