Next Wednesday, March 9, 2022, we will be hosting a very important parent night and we would like for you to attend. At the meeting, we will explain the various options available to your child as part of our dual credit program in partnership with Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) for 9-12 grades and the University of Nevada, Reno’s (UNR’s) Dean’s Future Scholars (DFS) summer program available for middle and high school students. Students who participate in DFS experience increased success in dual credit and traditional college programs. This year, as part of our dual credit program, participating students in grades 9-12 have taken between one and five classes at TMCC, including Math, English, Social Studies, Science, Welding, and Guitar classes. Several students are working towards their Associate’s degree and others are taking classes for the enrichment and/or for the college experience. Last summer, DFS gave seventh and eighth-grade students an amazing experience on the UNR campus. They developed their independence and leadership skills through community-building activities with peers from diverse backgrounds. They did hands-on learning with students from different university colleges and met guest speakers. All of the students who participated had a great time in this three-week program. DFS also has fun opportunities for high school students. For students who are interested in pursuing dual credit opportunities, Deans's Future Scholars offers the best way to have fun, improve academic skills, and earn credit for high school and/or college over the summer. The high school summer Dean’s Future Scholars program is six weeks long. Both our dual credit program with TMCC and Dean’s Future Scholars are free to families, have made students feel successful, and expand opportunities available for students in high school and after high school. Please join us next Wednesday, March 9 at 5:30 to learn more about these programs and to get your student signed up! If your student participated in the dual credit program this year, you do not need to attend, but you are welcome to come with questions and to share your perspective. We hope to see you there!

Our wacky schedule for this week just got a little wackier! Because of the overnight weather forecast, we are calling a 2-hour delayed start for tomorrow, Tuesday 2/22/22. We want to make sure our buses, families, and staff can all get to school safely in the morning. Give yourself some extra time to drive slowly and carefully tomorrow morning. Reminder: Wednesday is a half-day and there is no school Thursday. So, a 2-hour delay Tuesday, an early release Wednesday and no school Thursday.
